Li-Nin treats its shoes a little differently than most brands. While Nike, adidas, Vans and others release models throughout the season, the Chinese shoe brand presents a series of silhouettes from the beginning. And for SS21 we see their New Frontier, a collection full of aggressive silhouettes shaped and influenced by the outside world.
No single category tops the list here; instead, the entire assortment is almost evenly split between treadmill, lifestyle, and basketball offerings. The latter, from Wu Xing II Qian, has a forward-thinking form factor that combines folding designs, vampire slits and ventilation details for a thoughtful finish. His lifestyle counterpart, Xuan Kong, elevated the eccentricity with thick soles and technical details that Li-Ning became known for.
Plus, the runners bring a touch of familiarity. The Furious Rider series continues with the Ace 2, a model that visually pays homage to the angry horse, which is important in Chinese culture. Meanwhile, the CRC Shadow offers a similar, albeit more functional, spirit – moving forward with its two-tier hollowed out sole. Li-Ning is also experimenting with modular design this season with the Mix Ace, a convertible model that turns from a sandal into a sneaker.
Check out the collection below. It will be released very soon at some retailers like SSENSE.
